Our story

Vellier was built inside 1805 Design & Décor, a working UK decorating and interiors company, and it runs that business every day.

Vellier wasn't planned in a meeting room. It grew out of a working decorating and interiors company, 1805 Design & Décor, and it has run that business every day while it was being built.

Where it started

1805 Design & Décor is a decorating and interiors company working across Edinburgh, Glasgow and the Lothians, run by its owner, Oscar Burdett-Weal. Most of its work is in people's homes, from a single room to a whole house, and its clients expect a high standard of finish and a proper service around it.

Before Vellier, the business ran on five separate systems: Better Proposals for proposals, Connecteam for the team, Xero for the books, Zoho and Wix. None of them talked to each other. Proposals were hard to shape the way 1805 wanted to present its work, there was no client portal that suited its clients, keeping clients up to date meant writing texts and emails by hand every day, and getting paid on time relied on chasing.

So 1805 started building its own system, one that did all of it in one place. That system is Vellier. The team started clocking in on it in November 2025, and proposals followed in May 2026.

Built on real jobs

The everyday core of Vellier was shaped on real jobs. 1805 Design & Décor uses it for:

  • surveying rooms and pricing work room by room
  • sending proposals that clients read and sign online
  • planning who is on which site, and when
  • the team clocking in and writing daily reports from their phones
  • keeping clients up to date through their own portal
  • invoicing on the agreed stages and chasing what's owed

When something is awkward on a Monday morning, we feel it too, and we fix it.

Who it's for

Vellier is for UK trades of every kind (decorators, builders, electricians, plumbers, roofers, landscapers and more), interior designers, and developers who buy, refurbish and sell houses with their own trades or subcontractors.

When you sign up you choose your trade, and Vellier sets its wording, menus, job templates and certificates to match. A plumber doesn't need a colour library, and a decorator doesn't need gas safety records.

What we believe

  • Your data is yours. You can export it at any time, and it's kept in its own separate database.
  • Clients see what you choose. Your costs and margins are never shown to clients.
  • Plain English. Dates as DD/MM/YYYY, prices in pounds, VAT and CIS done the UK way.
  • No surprises. Nothing is switched on in your business until you switch it on.

The people behind it

Vellier is made by Vellier Systems, a small team in Scotland that grew out of 1805 Design & Décor. The people who build it run jobs with it, so what goes in has been tried on real work first. Read the 1805 case study for the full story.
